Cycle Trails

For the Best Cycle trails on the Isle of Wight visit the No.1 cycling destination in the world (by Lonely Planet!).

Located just off of the south coast, the Isle of Wight is only 2 hours door-to-door from London via ferry or hovercraft. It is a perfect year-round destination to explore with family and friends.

Within an area of just 147 square miles, half of which has been designated  “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” (AONB), The Isle of Wight is a haven for cyclists with over 500 miles of dedicated cycle paths, many following disused railway lines, a myriad of quiet country lanes, scenic bridleways and breathtaking coastal paths as an alternative to busy main roads.

The Islands wild natural beauty, landscape and coastline offers fantastic experiences. From dramatic cliffs, long sandy beaches, and in addition, hidden coves and quiet estuaries. All which are a haven for wildlife. Ride through gently rolling patchwork of fields with secretive woodlands, open chalk downs. And moreover, see spectacular views across the Islands countryside and coastline.

Take a look at some of the Best Cycle Trails on the Isle of Wight:

If it is road cycling you like then you will love theRound the Island’ route, 66 miles of quiet roads that are perfect for a day out. And the best bit is, it is signposted all the way round so you won’t get lost!

If it’s a day out with the kids then the Red Squirrel Trail’ is everything you’ll need. Family friendly cycling with lots to do and see on the way – and all passing through the biggest population of Red Squirrels in the UK!
